INGREDIENTS:
Whole Green Gram ¼ cup
Onion 1 finely sliced
Cumin Seeds ¼ tea spoon
Ghee or Butter ½ tea spoon
Asafoetida a pinch
Turmeric Powder 2 pinch
Water 2 cups
Salt to taste
Pepper Powder to taste
Lime Juice to taste
Fresh Cream 2 tea spoons
METHOD:
Pressure cook the green gram along with turmeric powder. Take 1 table spoon from the cooked dhal and keep aside. Blend the rest until soft.
Heat ghee or butter; fry the sliced onions till it becomes golden brown and crispy and keep aside for garnishing.
In the same pan heat some more ghee or butter, add cumin seeds and wait till it splutters, add asafoetida and transfer it to the blended green gram mixture.
Boil the mixture along with salt for 5-7 minutes till it becomes slightly thick.
Add lime juice and pepper powder, mix well and top it with fresh cream and fried onions.
Healthy GREEN GRAM SOUP is ready to serve.
