Love a Tree Day
Love a Tree Day is celebrated to show our love and care for trees. Trees play an important role in all living beings. It helps us to breathe clean air by way of absorbing harmful gases by trapping them on their leaves and bark. Trees provide food, shade and shelter to human and wildlife. It is helpful in reducing soil erosion.

On this day let us honour trees for their gifts to us by doing anyone of the following
- Gifting a tree
- Watering a thirsty tree
- Learning more about trees
- Planting a tree and taking care of it
Here are some amazing facts about trees
- The tallest known tree is 379 ft. tall.
- There are more than 20,000 tree species in the world.
- The most massive living thing on earth is the Giant Sequoia in the Redwood Forest of California. It stands nearly 30 stories tall and 82.3 feet in circumference. Its weight is estimated at 2,756 tons. http://www.weekendgardener.net
- Some trees can “talk” to each other. When willows are attacked by webworms and caterpillars, they emit a chemical that alerts nearby willow of the danger. The neighboring trees then respond by pumping more tannin into their leaves making it difficult for the insects to digest the leaves. http://www.weekendgardener.net
If you really love trees, express it by giving them a BIG HUG.
