1. Approximately after the 10 days of mosquito bite the fever will come. The pattern of fever in Malaria will be high fever with rigor. Rigor will be so severe that it may require a blanket to cover the child.
2. In Malaria, children may get fever on alternate days or once in two days, in between children may be totally free from fever.
3. Children with Malaria need not have restriction in diet. They can have normal diet.
4. Usually if children get fever it is customary to withhold the diet by parents. It is not proper. Children may not like the porridge and liquids to consume particularly during fever. They may ask for normal diet. Except in Typhoid fever normal diet should be given to children.
5. If children feel bitterness of the mouth and have vomiting sensation and avoid food they can be tried with liquid diet.
6. Of viral fevers, serious type of virus fever is Dengue Hemorrhagic fever wherein there will be bleeding from many sites of the body.
7. Dengue fever is also transmitted by the bite of mosquito. To start with, it will be like simple viral fever, but in few days children will have bloody spots over the body due to bleeding. Then there may be bleeding from the nose, mouth and anus.
8. If fever is associated with these symptoms emergency treatment is mandatory to save the life of child.
9. Children with brain fever i.e., either meningitis or Encephalitis will have fever, convulsion or fits, confused mind, loss of consciousness etc.
10. Generally, in spite of fever if children play intermittently, parents should not worry about the fever.
