INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY
August 12, 2016

International Youth Day (IYD) is celebrated every year on August 12. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999. The first IYD was observed on August 12, 2000.
Young people are not only our future, they are our present. Our planet has never been so young, with 1.8 billion young women and men. They are the most connected, the most outspoken and the most open-minded generation the world has ever seen.
Theme for 2016: The Road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production
To reach the Road to 2030, the youth who live in the least developed countries need support to eradicate conflicts and poverty.
