If the wound is infected appropriate treatment should be given.
Children suffering from blister due to scalds, burns, boils due to chemicals or infected boils should not be pricked.
If the boil is intact a dressing should be done with sterile cloth.
If the boil or blister is ruptured it should be washed with soap and water and anti-infective ointments should be applied over it.
Burns, electric shocks, spill over of chemicals can accidentally happen with children. These events are not uncommon.
In such situations, parents should not get tensed. They should calmly do the first aid.
Clothes over the chemical burns should be removed and cold water should be poured over the burnt area. If the burnt area is more child should be kept in a bath tub for at least 10 minutes and then dried.
Burnt area should be covered with thin, sterile, non – sticky gauge.
If there are burns in the hands and legs sterile cloth or bandage cloth should be loosely covered around the burnt area.
If a child is burning with fire cold water should be poured over the child, Or else, woollen rug or thick cotton carpets should be thrown over the child to control the flames of fire and to put off the fire.
