For children below poverty line cereals should be considered as their meat and it should be given adequately.
Growing children should be given groundnuts, green gram, black gram, bengal gram and peas in plenty. These all should be given after proper processing and can also be given after boiling them.
Bengal gram can be given to eat as gram itself directly or jaggery should be added to it to make it as bengal gram balls and it can be given.
Sweet toffees made up of bengal gram can also be given.

For growing children there should not be any restriction in diet saying that food is a hot food and other food is a cold food. All sorts of foods should be given to the children.
Growing children should not take food only thrice as adults. They should have minimum five times.
For growing children few vegetables can also be given without boiling.
Carrot, cucumber, tomato can all be thoroughly washed and can be given to eat.
Children should have milk with sugar added to it. Adding sugar will lead to cold is a superstition.
