1.Children with diarrhoea can be given rice water, dhal water, lassi or buttermilk, coconut water, lemon water and plain water.
2.If oral dehydration solution is given to children during and attacks of diarrhoea following quantity can be fed to the children provided if they are not having dehydration.
3.If the child is less than 6 months 50 ml should be fed after each loose stools.
4.Children between 7 months to 2 years 50-100 ml of oral dehydration solution should be fed after each loose motion.
5.Children between 2 to 5 years are fed with 100 to 200 ml of oral dehydration solution and older children can be given as much as they can drink.
6.If children are suffering from Dehydration along with diarrhoea should be given more of oral rehydration solution.
7.Infants less than 4 months with weight less than 5 kgs should be fed with 200 to 400 ml of oral rehydration solution over a period of 4 hours.
8.Children between 4 and 11 months weighting between 5 and 7.9 kgs can be given 400 to 600 ml of ORS over a period of 4 hours.
9.Children between 12 and 134 months weighting between 8 and 10.9kgs can be given 600 – 800 ml of ORS in 4 hours.
10.Children from 2 to 4 years weighting between 10 and 15.9kgs are made to drink 800 to 1200 ml of ORS in 4 hours.
