1.Warm, bacteria free milk is available all the time and the mother need not worry about how much milk the baby needs as long as the baby is happy and is gaining weight.
2.Breast milk costs nothing. This is not quite true if one takes accounts of the cost of extra food the lactating mother requires, but it is certainly cheaper than substitutes. If it is estimated that cost of artificial feeding may be as much as one third of the family income.
3.It is easily digestible and fats are better emulsified.
4.Breast milk is excellently good for premature babies.
5.It confers passive immunity to the baby, colostrum is rich in antibodies which gives protection against diseases.
6.It gives protection against bacterial as well as viral diseases.
7.It contains water soluble vitamin D which protects against Rickets which is a disease due to the deficiency of vitamin D.
8.Brest milk allergy will not happen.
9.Breast feeding will provide feeling of satisfaction and achievement and psychologically it makes mother and her child happier.
10.Mother hugs and cuddles the baby several times a day while feeding and gets to know her baby better.
