1. 1. There are many reasons for the incessant cry of the infants. Abdominal pain, ear pain, if there is any infection in the body, following infection  if that site is infected and swollen, due to recurrent loose stools, region around the anus is excoriated and the child go on crying for hours together.
   2. Some children while crying will withhold their breath. If the child cries by holding the breath for longer duration it will turn blue.  Then there may be convulsion of fits.  If it happens like that immediate medical attention should be sought.  This sort of breath holding spell is common between 6 months to 3 years.
   3. Normally all the children may have tonsil glands in the throat and its growth will be there up to the age of 9 years. After that tonsils growth may not be there.  Hypertrophy of the tonsils alone is not the indication for doing operation for tonsils.
   4. If the tonsils are frequently infected with bacteria because of the hypertrophied tonsils if the children have difficulty in breathing and swallowing and if they become mouth breathers and snore, pus collection and abscess is formed in the tonsil, operation is mandatory. So, parents should not be anxious about the size of the tonsils.
   5. In some infants that there will be a soft swelling at the umbilicus. It will subside while the child is sleeping and the swelling will be prominent while the child is crying.  This is called as umbilical hernia.  It is due to protrusion of the portion of the intestine through the umbilical ring.
   6. Usually, there is no need for any treatment for this umbilical hernia. As and when child grows it will regress.  If it persists beyond 4 or 5 years medical attention should be sought and it should be repaired by an operation.
   7. Some newborn babies will have incurving of both the ankles. Immediate medical attention should be given to it and the proper measures to repair it should be done.
   8. Some newborn babies will be having bowing of their legs due to bend at the knees. It needs observation only.
   9. At the time of fever, children should not be covered with too much of clothes, bedsheets and rugs.
   10. The room where children stay should be fully ventilated and should have free flow of air.
