  1. Children during crawling and up to 2 years of age will keep any object they see in their mouth. So, it is advisable to keep toxic substances away from the reach of children.
  2. Kerosene, Turpentine, Neem oil and medicines are inadvertently consumed by the children.
  3. Kerosene should not be kept in water bottles on any account.
  4. If children consume any medicines by mistake, they should be made to vomit. If it is done so, the medicine which is ingested can be removed from the stomach.
  5. To induce vomiting soft palate can be touched or else plenty of salt water can be given.
  6. Children who have consumed kerosene should not be induced to vomit.
  7. If children have consumed some medicine excessively than the dose stipulated should be taken to a consultant and proper antidotes should be given.
  8. Antidote is available only for few medicines. As per the advice of the doctors antidotes should be given.
  9. If children, suffer from insect bite immediate medical attention is necessary.
  10. Scorpion sting may lead to few complications. If the child becomes cold and clammy with profuse sweating following scorpion sting immediate treatment should be given.
