  1. Some children may accidentally swallow the naphthalene balls. In such children stomach wash should be given immediately.
  2. When the children are sick it is not advisable to keep them in empty stomach without proper feeding.
  3. Children suffering from Measles or Chicken pox should not be taken out of house for treatment is a superstition.
  4. All these diseases with skin lesions i.e., Measles and Chicken pox are due to viruses. Parents should know this and there are effective antiviral drugs available nowadays.
  5. Some believe in giving one or two teaspoons of alcohol saying that child’s appetite is poor. Giving alcoholic beverage is not a proper practice. These alcohol beverage may improve the appetite.  But it is not advisable.
  6. In villages, if children accidentally consume weed killer medicines, those children are made to drink goat’s blood saying it is antidote. It is another rubbish superstition.
  7. Children fed with only goat’s milk may go in for a special type of anaemia. So, children should not be fed with goat’s milk alone.
  8. Children who are having big tonsils should be restricted from taking ice cream, cream of cake, cool drinks, cream biscuits etc., which irritates the throat.
  9. During the adolescent period that is teenage period boys will gain an average of 30-38 cms in height and girls will gain 20-25 cms in height.
  10. Making them to wear gold necklace while the child is suffering from mumps is also superstition.
