In modern treatment, there are medicines which can directly reach the lungs and act.
These Aerosol medicines are used with the help of Inhalers. After inhaling the medicines, symptom of asthma i.e wheezing will gradually regress within few seconds.
Children who are too young and don’t know to inhale can use special devices called ‘Space halers’.
For children who are tired and suffering due to the disease ‘Nebuliser’ can be used. It is a small machine which is operated by a small electrical motor. This will convert the liquid medicine into aerosol and takes it to the lungs directly.
There are no drawbacks with these inhalers. To tell the truth there are benefits with the inhalers and moreover very minimal amount of the medicine alone will reach the lungs.
Children with severe asthma should avoid strenuous exercises. Otherwise, these children can play like normal children. There is no harm in playing normally.
If some children are allergic to only one allergen i.e. if particular allergen is allergic to them those children should be tried ‘Hypo sensitisation’ treatment. That is that particular allergen from weaker strength to a higher strengths should be injected at periodic intervals for a period of 6 months and the disease can be cured completely.
For children, breathing exercises will be quite useful.
Fish treatment for asthma is not a proper treatment and lot of advertisement is done for this in the press and media.
Psychotherapy will also be helpful for this disease to some extent.
