Tuberculosis bacteria mixed with the air will affect the child by airborne route.
Adults suffering from Tuberculosis spit sputum anywhere on the floor and the dolls and play materials will get contaminated with these disease producing bacteria. If children keep these dolls and play materials in their mouth, the disease will spread to children.
Malnourished children, children who have suffered from measles and whooping cough with immunity compromise will acquire this disease rapidly.
Children who are living in poorly ventilated congested multi-storeyed buildings with little exposure to sunlight are prone to get the disease.
Children who are living in unhygienic damp and shabby atmosphere will also suffer from this disease.
To start with children suffering from childhood tuberculosis will have tiredness and lack of interest in playing. Appetite will come down. Fever in the evening hours will be there. Frequent cough and cold will be present. Chronic cough and enlarged lymph glands in the neck may also be present.
If the disease is properly diagnosed it can be cured totally.
Treatment for tuberculosis should be for a minimum period of 6 months or else for a maximum of 1 ½ years depending upon the organ affected and severity of the disease.
