  1. Menstrual hygiene is essential for the prevention of infection of reproductive organs, itching and fowl smelling of the genitalia.
  2. During menstruation baths should be taken twice a day.
  3. Dry cotton dress and inner clothes which are dried in sunlight should be worn.
  4. After passing motion inner aspect of the thighs, external genitalia should be washed with soap and water by sitting in squatting position.
  5. Sanitary napkins should be used for absorbing the bleeding and it should be changed frequently depending upon the bleeding.
  6. If napkins are used it should be removed and disposed off.
  7. If clothes are used those clothes should be thoroughly washed and dried in sunlight and should be used again.
  8. This cloth should not be used for more than three months.
  9. Too thick or rough clothes should not be used. If done so, it will irritate the genitalia and cause itching.
  10. If sanitary napkins are used the instructions on the packet should be followed.
