On an average, three napkins has to be changed per day.
Post mature or Post dated babies may have peeling of skin. It is natural. Nothing has to be done for this.
Some newborn female babies may have mild bleeding from the external genitalia mimicking menstrual bleeding nothing to be worried about it. It may usually happen with some babies.
Some female babies will have white discharge from the external genitalia. It is also a common happening.
Some newborn babies following difficult labour or after using forceps may have a soft boggy swelling over the scalp. It is due to the bleeding under the skin of the scalp at the time of difficult labour.
This swelling will subside of its own accord. If it is meddled it will create lots of problems.
Some newborn babies will have tiny white dots over the face and nose.
These are due to the dilation of the sweat ducts. They will clear off of their own accord.
Some newborn babies may develop reddish rashes in 2-3 days after birth all over the body. Those rashes will also disappear by one week without any treatment. No need to worry about it.
Mothers breast feeding their babies should keep their breasts clean. It is better to wash their breasts with warm water before every feeds.
