Mothers after delivery or caesarean operation should not be subjected to restriction in diet. If done so, milk secretion will be compromised.
If mother is having chronic disease, fast spreading infectious diseases, breast abscess it is advised not to give breast milk.
Breast feeding should be started within hours after delivery once the mother recovers from agony of labour.
Following caesarean operation, as soon as the mother recovers from the anaesthesia effect can feed the baby. They can start feeding the baby in the lying posture itself with the help of others.
Initially for 2-3 days milk secretion will be meagre. As the baby starts sucking the secretion of milk will improve.
Breast feeding will improve the bondage between mother and baby.
If a child is short, there are many reasons for it.
Malnutrition, Intrauterine growth retardation, genetic causes, ductless glands diseases, chronic organ diseases are some of the cause for short stature of the children.
The growth of the child should be monitored by recording the height and weight of the child in a growth chart. The weight and height should be recorded fortnightly in the first year and there after every month.
Based on the growth chart only child’s growth can be assessed whether it is normal or abnormal.
