Universally, Children’s Day is celebrated on 20th November, every year. But in India it is celebrated on November 14, the date which marks the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
His birthday, 14 November is celebrated in India as Bal Divas (“Children’s Day”) in recognition of his lifelong passion and work for the welfare, education and development of children and young people. Children across India remember him as Chacha Nehru (Uncle Nehru).
Jawaharlal Nehru loved children very much and strongly believed that they were the future and the strength of the country.
