FRIENDSHIP DAY
August 7, 2016

On April 27, 2011 the General Assembly of the United Nations declared July 30 as official International Friendship Day. But it is celebrated on different dates in different countries. Some countries including India, celebrate it on the first Sunday of August and this year it will be celebrated on 7th August.
Friendship Day was invented by Joyce Hall, founder of Hallmark Cards, in 1930. Winnie the Pooh was named the World’s Ambassador of Friendship at the United Nations in 1998, by Nane Annan, wife of UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

The day is dedicated to those who are tied by emotions, love, trust, fun, secrets, happiness, sorrows and many more – they are called “FRIENDS”.
