In 1982, International Dance Day (IDD) or World Dance Day was introduced by the International Dance Council of the UNESCO International Theatre Institute (ITI), to celebrate every year on April 29th. It is the birth anniversary of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), the creator of modern ballet.
Events are conducted around the world on this day. The aim of IDD is to attract the attention of the wider public to the art of dance.
Every year, the president of the International Dance Council sends the official message for Dance Day which circulates in every country around the world.
