In India Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 5th September every year, the birth date of India’s first Vice-President and second President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Teachers’ Day is celebrated on various dates all over the world. It varies from country to country. Teachers’ Day is different from World Teachers’ Day which is celebrated on October 5.
Dr.Radhakrishnan was a great teacher, an Indian philosopher and statesman and one of India’s distinguished twentieth-century scholars. It was his wish that his birthday to be celebrated as Teachers’ Day.
Teachers’ Day is a special day celebrated to honour and pay tributes to the contribution made by teachers to the society. Teaching is a noble profession and they are placed above God. Teachers are regarded as the back bone of our society. They mould each and every student by giving them knowledge and wisdom and help them to become ideal citizens.
