World Environment Day is observed worldwide on June 5 every year to bring awareness and taking action for the protection of our environment. The day is celebrated in over 100 countries.
“Beat Plastic Pollution” is chosen as the theme of World Environment Day, hosted this year by India.
“If you can’t reuse it, refuse it”
Protecting the planet is everyone’s responsibility and it depends on all of us…
But we are putting the planet under enormous pressure. We are depleting the Earth’s natural resources, polluting its air and water, destabilizing the climate, and driving many of its species to extinction.

In 2002, Bangladesh the first country in the world to implement a ban on thin plastic bags, after it was found they played a key role in clogging drainage systems during disastrous flooding. Other countries begin to follow suit.
.In 2017, Kenya bans plastic bags; making it one the most recent of the more than two dozen countries that have sought to reduce plastic bag use through fees or bans.
